Maxxis becomes tyre manufacturer of the Motocross World Championship

As of season 2019, Maxxis will deliver tyres for FIM Motocross World Grand Prix (MXGP) for the first time. Youthstream, the company selling the international rights for TV, marketing, and promotion, has announced the partnership, which normally lasts for three years, in Monaco only recently. The contract will be valid as of the future season 2019.

Maxxis will develop a new MX tyre series especially for the racing series. “The Motocross World Championship will be an outstanding possibility for us to intensify our know-how in the off-road tyre segment for motor bikes”, says Danny Peters, Head of Sales Tyre Segment Motor Bike/ATV at Maxxis International.

Majority of manufacturers will avoid REIFEN 2018

From 11th to 15th September, the REIFEN 2018 will have its premiere parallel to the Automechanika Frankfurt. Most of the tyre brands with radiant power will not be present at the trade fair, as the majority of the international tyre industry decided in favour of being present at The Tire Cologne.

Avon is official tyre supplier of the Racing Series Elite

Last week, the new Racing Series Elite was presented – Avon Tyres will work as official tyre supplier. The new Jaguar F-TYPE SVR with GT4 specification was selected as official racing vehicle. There will be 20 competitors for the whole first season in 2019. The vehicles will be stored and prepared by the central operations team before and after the race.

Maxxis Product launch of Victra Sport 5

During The Tire Cologne Maxxis introduced the new Victra Sport 5. As Tobias Herzberg, Brand Manager at Maxxis, explained, it was considered to be a totally new development. This meant that the tyre disposed of a new carcass construction and rubber compound. It was supposed to replace the Victra Sport–VS-01 step-by-step. Although the Victra Sport 5 was already presented, it would only be available as of summer season 2019.

Wdk: Tyre manufacturers will have to cope with decrease in turnover of 6.2 per cent

After the first six months of the year 2016, the German rubber industry noticed a decrease in turnover of 2.2 per cent. According to wdk (Organisation of German Manufacturers of Tyres and Technical Elastomers Products), the tyre manufacturers’ turnover fell by 6.2 per cent. In spite of higher sales figures for TEE (Technische Elastomer Erzeugnisse – Technical Elastomers Products) production decreased in German tyre plants and in TEE locations. While manufacturers of TEE were able to look back at a slightly positive business development in the first half of 2016, there was a decrease in turnover for tyre manufacturers in the same period. This was not only caused by low sales prices resulting from falling raw material costs.
