Since May, the Conti show truck has been used in order to visit customers and events in a total of 36 countries and to cover more than 50,000 kilometres. The short-term stop-over at the Truck Grand Prix at Nürburgring in the Eifel region was a welcome distraction for the tyre experts. The slogan of the road show was “Your business, our solutions“ and the Conti crew presented itself in that way. Apart from the show truck, visitors were also entertained by a professional foosball player and a wheel of fortune. The appearance of Peter Neururer, former Bundesliga coach, in combination with a raffle was the highlight at the Conti booth.
The show truck informs fleet managers about different possibilities how operative costs could be influenced by wholesome tyre management and further intelligent solutions. Above all, the principle of Lowest Overall Driving Costs – or in short LODC – is presented. This comprehensive consulting concept for tyre management is to reduce operating costs for fleets.
Tyre management
During our visit of the truck, the editors spoke with a fleet manager responsible for several hundreds of trailers. He was interested in the possibilities of storing tyre data like filling pressure, temperature, tread depth and tyre conditions as well as tracking the tyre. Continental supports its clients with the digital solution ContiConnect that is also presented in the show truck in order to deal with digitalisation of the fleet, tyre mounting and proactive maintenance.
The truck demonstrates of course the current tyre generation 5 which is supposed to offer 20 per cent higher mileage compared to the predecessor generation. The Conti VanContact Ultra, only recently launched, is presented too. This tyre was above all designed for deliveries on the last mile and is to have a higher longevity due to an especially stable side wall. The topic of retreading is covered in the show truck too. Retreading needs fewer raw materials and causes less emissions than the production of a new tyre. Looking at total operation costs and sustainability, the retreading of tyres for commercial vehicles will as well become more important. (oth)
