New Uniwheels plant starts operating

The new Uniwheels Plant 4 started prematurely operating in the Polish Stalowa Wola. After finishing a testing operation in May, regular moulding operations started at the beginning of June. Originally, production start was planned for August. Currently, 250 employees produce wheels via low pressure casting on the first moulding machines in the new plant, which are then finished in a nearly fully automated process. The company plans a wheel production of 500,000 units until the end of the year.

When running at full capacity at the beginning of next year, about 400 employees are supposed to produce up to two million wheels, which will mostly be delivered to customers of the German and European car industry. According to company information, the possible capacity and total volume of the group will increase by about 20 to 25 per cent, which will stand for a probable total number of up to ten million wheels per year. At the same time, the group’s workforce is supposed to rise to a level of nearly 3,000 employees, with about 75 per cent working in Poland and 25 per cent working in Germany. “The new Plant 4 was mainly financed by Uniwheels’s successful flotation last spring. International institutional investors subscribed to about one quarter of the capital. The flotation, which had a volume of about 120 million euro at the stock exchange in Warsaw, was the biggest in Poland during the past two years”, says Dr. Karsten Obenaus, CFO at Uniwheels AG.
