The new Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 was released as original equipment of the new 911 GT3 RS in the sizes 265/35ZR20 (99Y) XL and 325/30ZR21 (108Y) XL by Porsche. The successor of the Sport Maxx Race was particularly developed for Porsche.
According to company information, excellent dry performance and ultimate lap timing were in the focus of development. In order to achieve these characteristics like additional grip and performance, the Dunlop engineers further developed the design and compound. “The Sport Maxx Race 2 perfectly fits our 911 GT3 RS concerning dry performance, grip and steering precision. Dunlop’s quality and the ability to understand and implement our requirements are the keys to success”, said Jan Frank, Lead Engineer Porsche Motorsport Entwicklung. “Dunlop equipped the first 991 GT3 2013 with the Sport Maxx Race, and since then we have been able to build up a strong tradition with the Porsche family and to homologate our tyres for each model”, explained Nick Harley, Managing Director OE Consumer EMEA. After tests at Nürburgring’s Nordschleife in Germany and at the Porsche testing ground in Nardò/Italy, the Sport Maxx Race 2 was released as OE tyres for the 911 GT3 RS. Both tyres are labelled with N1, which means that Porsche homologated these tyres for its vehicle.
